The kids loved their presents from Santa. Here are a few pictures. We also got some snow! That was very exciting for all of us.

Merry Christmas

Not only did I not send out Christmas cards but now I am posting this after Christmas. Oh well. This has been an exciting year for us. We moved to Oregon 5 days after Christmas last year. A month after that Benson moved to Salem to go through the state run Academy. So it was quite an adjustment for all of us. Benson was able to come home on the weekends and that was very treasured time with him. Luckily we made friends quickly so we weren't so lonely. Laura also came to visit in March which gave us something to look forward to. The kids and I also drove to Disneyland with my sister Janel and her daughter Avery and met up with my parents and Caitlin and had a week of fun there. On our way home we stopped in San Jose and visited my brother Zach and his girlfriend Kelly. It was really good to see them again.

In May Benson graduated from the Police Academy and was able to move back home! Yeah! It was really nice to have him back home. I have to thank my friend Adrienne who talked to me just about every night that Benson was gone.

In June Jeremy turned 3 years old and in July Matt, Dayna and kids came to visit over the 4th of July. We rented a house on the beach and enjoyed time together. Then in late July the kids and I made a trip back to Utah. We had a really fun time seeing family and friends. Janel and Avery were in Utah while we were there so it was fun to be with them.

September was another big month. Brooklyn turned 6 years old and started Kindergarten. She absolutely loves school. She is a really good student. Apparently she got that from her dad.

October of course is a fun month with the start of fall and the anticipation of Halloween and the holiday season. Laura came to visit over Halloween and it was fun to have her again.

In November Benson graduated from the Advanced Academy that Portland puts on. It is really nice to have another step done. Benson's sister Kathi and her kids Zach and Ashli came to visit for Thanksgiving. We were happy to have them.

And now I cannot believe we are already to December, in fact, it is almost over. I found out this month that I was pregnant with our third. We were really excited. I wanted to have a baby before September so that the baby will be able to start Kindergarten when he/she turns 5 as opposed to Brooklyn who had to wait till she was six because she missed the deadline by 18 days. I know, only a mom with older kids would think of something like that. Anyway, we are really excited for our family to grow by one more child.

We hope you all had a very nice Christmas. We stayed in Oregon and had a really quiet Christmas. It was a lot of fun to spend Christmas as our little family. We did have some friends over for dinner and enjoyed their company. We look forward to the coming year. I have a feeling this one won't be any less adventerous as as the past year has been. We want to thank all of you who came to visit us this year. We enjoyed having all of you here.

Love,

Benson, Michelle, Brooklyn, and Jeremy

A family of five!

Soon after we told the kids that I was pregnant Brooklyn drew me this picture. As you can see Brooklyn wants the baby to be a girl. She also told me that she would feed the baby when I was tired and that she and her friend Heidi would babysit for me. Also last Sunday we were looking at the Target ad and it of course had baby clothes. Brooklyn said, "Mom, we have to buy this for the baby." It is so fun to see how excited she is.
On the other hand Jeremy is very confused by the whole thing. I cannot believe how many questions he has asked about how the baby got in my tummy and how it is going to get out. He keeps saying that we are joking with him. He also told me that I have to go to the doctor so the doctor can put the baby in my tummy.

Third

I have a funny story to tell. My dad loves to tell this story, he gets a kick out of it everytime he does. I want to share it with you. When my brother was younger he played little league. Well one of the teams they played had a little boy on it whose name was Third. Well Third played second base. So everytime the ball was hit and the coach yelled, "throw the ball to Third" the kids were really confused. They didn't know if they were supposed to throw it to Third or third base. So the ball was thrown all over the field. Apparently it was quite comical for all of the parents watching. Because of that story I have been thinking to myself....who names a child Third? Was he the third child, was he the third boy. Was he the third grandchild? Or did his parents want him to grow up and be a Third Baseman. Who knows! What I am really trying to get to here is that I am going to have my third child and no matter what sex the child is it's name will not be Third. Even though he/she will be the third child and that I wouldn't mind that if it is a boy he does grow up to play third base in the major leagues. But I do think it could be a really fun nickname!

All I want for Christmas is my TWO front teeth!!!

Well Brooklyn has officially lost both front teeth just in time for Christmas. Santa was very excited when he noticed she was missing both front teeth. He kept mentioning it to her. Brooklyn has also had several other people ask her if she has heard the song All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. Unfortunately we have not heard it. I guess I will need to find it on the internet for her!

The Polar Express

My parents bought us tickets to ride The Polar Express. That was our Christmas gift and it was a lot of fun. We drove to Hood River as soon as Brooklyn got out of school on Tuesday. The train ride was almost 2 hours. We read The Polar Express and had hot chocolate and cookies. We also got to sing Christmas carols. Then we finally got to The North Pole and saw Santa and his elves. They got on the train with us. The kids got to talk to Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas, except Jeremy wouldn't talk to him. Brooklyn helped Jeremy.

Jeremy looking out the window to see The North Pole.

We had a really fun time. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

sleeping

So we put the kids to bed the other night and when we went upstairs to go to bed this it was I found. I had no idea that Jeremy had snuck into Brooklyn's room to sleep with her. I usually hear them but not this time. I just thought it was really cute.

All I want for Christmas is my ONE front tooth!

Brooklyn's top 2 front teeth have been loose for a while now. Finally on Sunday Benson was able to pull it out. She was really nervous but didn't even know he had done it when he was done. She got $2 from the Tooth Fairy. Now if we could just get the other one out. It is barely hanging in there.

Snow!

On Saturday morning I looked out the window and it was snowing. The kids got so excited. I bundled them out so they could go out and play in the falling snow. It was pretty exciting to see such big flakes. The kids keep asking to go to Utah so they can play in the snow more. I told them that one of these days we will drive to the mountains and go sledding.

candy bar game

We were bored at home the other day. When I remembered that Kathi had left a great big Symphony bar at our house from Thanksgiving. (Hope you didn't want it back.) So I thought it would be fun to teach my kids the candy bar game. Much to my dismay in the almost 11 years that I have known Benson he has never played it with me. He had no idea what I was talking about when I said, "Let's play the candy bar game". So I knew it was a must play. For those of you that have never played it you get 2 dice and if you get 7, 11, or doubles you get to dig into the candy bar, but you only get to with 2 knives. No hands! You get to eat as much chocolate as you can get into your mouth until someone else rolls 7, 11, or doubles. Anyway we had a really fun time. We were laughing so hard especially when Jeremy stole the candy right off of Benson's knife and put it in his mouth. Jeremy was the biggest rule breaker but it made for some good laughs.

a beautiful day at the beach

Before we drove Ashli up to Washington we wanted to take her out to see the Oregon Coast. We didn't get to spend much time there but the little bit of time we did was a lot of fun. It was also a beautiful day. So it was definitely worth the trip. Here are a few pics.

The kids had sooo much fun throwing sand balls into the water and running back before the water got them. They were laughing so hard.

Don't even ask why Jeremy's pants are undone. I didn't even notice until I was looking at this picture. I had to post it though because it captures his excitement.

Not too full, little sap...

While Kathi, Ashli, and Zach were here we went and cut down a Christmas tree. It was a lot of fun and Benson kept quoting from Christmas Vacation. We all had a few good laughs while trying to find the perfect tree. Jeremy enjoying tromping through the dirt and stepping on mushrooms.

Benson with his "kill". He wanted his picture taken like people do when they got their big elk or whatever big thing they killed. So Benson with his big "kill" a Christmas tree and the weapon he used displayed in front.
We found 8 ladybugs in our tree.
Brooklyn not too sure if she wants this tree.

playing with the cousins

Kathi brought her XBOX 360 and as you can see we had lots of fun. Try doing DDR with a 3 year old on your shoulders. The kids loved all the playing they got to do. I love Brooklyn's face in this picture.

play time!

Thanksgiving

We had a really nice Thanksgiving. Kathi, Zach, and Ashli came from Utah. They drove the whole night before. So they were a little tired on Thanksgiving. But we had a lot of fun with them. Here are some pics. Cousins! It was so nice to have them here because the kids just wanted to play with them. A few times we had to tell them to back off because they were all over them.
The big feast. We definitely had more then we needed especially when it came to the potatos. We are still working on those.
Jeremy is playing Vanna White in this picture. He is showing off the yummy pies we had for dessert.
I just thought this was a really cute pictures of Ashli and Jeremy.

Six things...

Well I have been tagged by a couple of different people so I decided that I should do this thing... My biggest problem is coming up with 6 things interesting about myself. I will try but I don't guarantee they will be interesting.

1. I am pretty obsessed with reality tv. I love to watch The Amazing Race, Survivor, America's Next Top Model, The Biggest Loser, Fat March, The Bachelor and Cops. It is probably a really good thing that we don't have cable because there was a lot of reality shows on MTV, HGTV and TLC that I also used to love to watch. A friend of mine comes over on Monday nights so that we can watch The Bachelor together. The finale is on on Monday night and I am really excited to have a little finale party.

2. I love desserts and candy. Even when I was really good on my diet and didn't eat any of it I would still enjoy buying candy for Benson and the kids. I love having it in my home. I enjoy looking at it. I enjoy making really yummy desserts and I love when people ask me for the recipe. It is so exciting for me. Unfortunately I have gotten back to eating too much of all that yummy but bad for you food.

3. This is one that Benson just recently found out about me. I am obsessed with numbers and counting. Sometimes I think I am crazy. When I was staying at my parents house this summer I was talking on the phone with Benson and carrying Jeremy down the stairs. Well when I am carrying him I can't see the stairs so I just count them so I know when I am at the bottom. Since I was talking to Benson I couldn't count the stairs and I actually missed the last stair and fell. So I told Benson it was his fault that I fell and explained. It was because I wasn't able to count the stairs. He asked me how many stairs were in our apartment and I told him 7 up each set (we have a landing). He couldn't believe I knew that. I also love to take words and count them out on my fingers and figure out how many letters are between each of the letters of the word and then find the one that is most in the middle. I know it sounds really confusing but it works in my simple little mind. I do it so much that I really don't even think about it, I just find myself doing it. There are lots of other things I do with numbers but I won't bore you with anymore details.

4. For some reasons I love to make Benson roll his eyes at me (so to speak). I will purposely do something to annoy Benson just to make him roll his eyes at me. I think it is so funny. Maybe because sometimes it is so easy. I love to make funny faces or act really stupid in front of him because I get such a kick out of him thinking I have totally lost it. Or I will purposely put something somewhere just to see his reaction when he finds it. The funny thing is that he knows I do these things on purpose but I still do them. They are still very entertaining to me.

5. I am a major home body. I love to be home, I guess because it is such a safe place. I don't have to worry about impressing anyone or be careful what I say or do. I actually quit the basketball team in high school because I didn't like being away from home the little bit that I was. This is why I am so amazed that I have moved so far away from my family. When I moved up to Utah State to go to school I know my mom that I was going to be back in a couple of days. But I did it and am so glad I did. Then when Benson and I went to New York and now live in Oregon, it shocks me that I have done it. I never thought I would leave Utah because that is where my family is. I do love going back to my parents house. It is nice to have 2 homes now.

6. I am really bad with sayings. I always get them wrong and same with song lyrics. I remember in college Mel and I were singing to a song by Trisha Yearwood and I thought it said "you didn't have a vote of hope" but what it really said was "you didn't have a row to hoe". Boy did Melanie get a kick out of that. She was just as bad as I was though. One time she said, "it's 7's" when it is really 6's. Oh it was so funny! I cannot think of any of the sayings that I screw up. I am sure there are a few of you out there that could help me with that.

So there you have it. Six things about me that you may or may not have known. That was actually kind of fun to do. I sat here and laughed by myself.

So now I get to tag 6 of you, hmmm....Janel, Anna, I think the rest of you that have blogs have recently been tagged. So I guess I will just do 2.

Graduation #6..The Academy take 2

Benson has hit another big milestone in his training. He graduated from the Advanced Academy on Wednesday. He has almost finished a year of his 18 month probation. Benson got second place in Defensive Tactics and Academics. He was barely beat out in both catergories. Yes, it was a little frustrating. The kids and I enjoyed going to his graduation and are very proud of him.
Also this week Benson got to enjoy the tazer. They had tazer training on Monday and he was tazed. He said that it was much more painful then he thought it would be. It is definitely something I don't ever care to experience. With all of Benson's graduations you would expect alot more initials after his name and a much bigger pay check. Hopefully someday the bigger pay check will come. Benson is definitely worth a lot more then he makes! :) Especially when you look at the student loan debt! Anyway, we are really excited to be where we are in life. I am really excited to see where Benson takes his career.

Here is my "Officer and a Gentleman." You know what I am talking about if you watched The Bachelor last season.
Congrats Benson, we are proud of you.
